Recently, the premiere press conference of Jiangmen's first original overseas Chinese themed film "Drifting Dreams in the Homeland" was held at the Flushing and Meikang Day Activity Centers, officially announcing the arrangements for the film's public welfare screening in New York.

This screening event has received strong support from people from all walks of life in New York and Chinese communities. At the preparatory meeting held in Brooklyn on August 10th, about 40 clubs and individual representatives participated in the co hosting, fully reflecting the deep feelings of New York Chinese, especially Taishan overseas Chinese, for their hometown.

In a series of public welfare broadcasting activities in San Francisco, "Dreaming in the Homeland" attracted many local Chinese to come and watch. After watching the movie, the organizers also invited the audience to share their family immigration stories. Many people shared their own experiences and stories they heard from their parents or ancestors.

Since March this year, 'Dreaming in the Homeland' has been screened in North America. On May 12th, the film was screened and exchanged at the San Francisco Public Library; On May 25th, he participated in the Asian American Heritage Month event and held a large-scale screening and exchange event at the Victory Hall of the San Francisco Chinese General Association. Up to now, "Dreaming in My Hometown" has undergone multiple public welfare screenings and exchange activities. The topics explored in the film, such as homesickness and immigrant families, have caused a huge response among overseas Chinese, and have also attracted the attention of many scholars and news media who study the history and culture of overseas Chinese. The Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) has also solemnly promoted the film.

The movie 'Drifting Dreams in the Homeland' was officially released nationwide on October 23, 2023. It is the first original theatrical film produced by Jiangmen City, filling the gap in overseas Chinese themed films for many years. The movie revolves around the story of Zhao Chaoyang, an elderly overseas Chinese from the United States, returning to his hometown of Taishan with his grandson to search for his roots. It depicts the century long wandering history of an overseas Chinese family and presents the hardships of the older generation of overseas Chinese leaving their hometowns and their patriotic and hometown feelings. The film presents the authentic folk culture of overseas Chinese hometowns in Jiangmen and Taishan, including elements of national intangible cultural heritage such as Taishan floating stones, Guangdong music, Taishan volleyball, etc. The director team also brought the local characteristic buildings and cuisine of Taishan to the big screen, showcasing the beauty of the overseas Chinese hometown landscape and culture.
