Recently, under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the United Front Work Department of the Municipal Party Committee, and the People's Government of Taishan City, the premiere of the first original overseas Chinese themed film "Dreaming in the Hometown" in Jiangmen was held at the Taishan Changdachang Dadi Cinema, hosted by the Publicity Department of the Taishan Municipal Party Committee, the United Front Work Department of the Taishan Municipal Party Committee, and organized by Taishan Guli Cultural Development Co., Ltd. Chen Ji, member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department, attended the event.

Dream of the Hometown "is the first original film production in the Wuyi region, funded and supported by the villagers of Wuyi, entirely created and starred by Jiangmen people, and also the first overseas Chinese themed film in the Guangdong Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area. From its launch in 2020 to obtaining the National Film Administration's release certificate in March of this year, and then to being released in theaters nationwide, "Dream of the Hometown" took more than three years.

This film delves deeply into the historical and cultural heritage of "overseas Chinese", showcasing the stories of overseas Chinese traveling to the ocean, striving hard, never forgetting their hometown, and loving their homeland through family experiences. It showcases the beauty of the landscape and culture of the overseas Chinese hometown on the big screen, promotes the achievements of economic and social development in the hometown, and condenses the patriotism of overseas Chinese. In September of this year, "Dream of the Hometown" appeared at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival and was selected as a work at the China Film Festival. On October 17th, the film was also permanently collected by the Chinese Overseas Chinese History Museum.

During the event, Taishan Guli Cultural Development Co., Ltd. was awarded the title of "Outstanding Contribution Unit to Promote the Prosperity and Development of the Film and Television Industry in Jiangmen City". The main creative team of the film also shared the creative story and behind the scenes highlights with the on-site audience.
