“Jiangmen Online” today is on line. It’s a window for the outside world to view Jiangmen. It shows the outside world the charm and grace of the city—an overseas Chinese hometown and its excellent investment climate.And it serves as an e-commerce platform. I’d like to take this opportunity, in the name of 3.82 million Jiangmen citizens, extend warm congratulations on the opening of“Jiangmen Online”. And I wish to thank all friends both at home and abroad who have been supporting the development in our city.

Jiangmen is located at the western part of the Pearl River Delta, southwestern Guangdong Province, China. It has three districts—Xinhui, Pengjiang and Jianghai and four cities—Taishan, Kaiping, Heshan and enping under its governance. Its total area of 9,541 square kilometers approximately accounts for one fourth of that of the Pearl River Delta. Population in the whole municipality is 3.82 million. Since the reforming and opening up to the outside world, Jiangmen has gained great progress in economic and social development and urban construction, subsequently wining titles and awards such as “China Outstanding Tourism City”, “National Garden City”, “National Clean City” and “ China Model City for Residence and Environment Protection” . Jiangmen ranked at top of the list of secondary cities in China’s Investment Survey of 23 cities conducted by the World Bank and was listed as one of “ Top 50 Secure Regions for Investment in China” by central authority. In 2003, GDP in Jianmgen reached RMB 73.1 billion yuan, RMB 19157 yuan per capita.

    Jiangmen is called “ No. 1 overseas Chinese hometown in China”, with 3.76 million fellows and clansmen residing in 107 countries and regions including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The number accounts for one tenth of that in China. And it’s a city where outstanding figures popping up one after another, such as Mr. Chen Baisha, famous theorist in Ming Dynasty, Mr. Liang Qichao—a historical figure in Qing Dynasty and Mr. Feng Ru—the first aero pilot in China. There are 31 academicians in ChinaScienceAcademy and ChinaEngineeringAcademy who were born in Jianmgen or whose ancestors were Jianmgen citizens.

    Jiangmen enjoys good power and transportation facilities, solid industrial basis and abundant tourism resources. It is the new materials production base, motorcycles production demonstration center, textile industry city, bathroom and hardware facilities production center, stainless steel products manufacturing center in China. The Paradise of Birds, the hot springs in city of Enping and fortress towers in city of Kaiping are some of the attractions for tourists.

    Today, people of Jiangmen are striving to make Jiangmen a large, sustainable and modern city. We will be welcoming you with warm hearts and new looks.
