Advantages as an Energy Base

Jiangmen is one of China's electric energy bases with a total installed capacity of over 20 million kilowatts, including nuclear power, thermal power and wind power, making it the city with the best power supply situation in the Pearl River Delta. Taishan is China's first pilot area for a "single point to multiple points" direct supply of electricity, and enterprises joining in the program can enjoy a discount of 0.11 yuan per kW in their power consumption. Taishan, Kaiping and Enping are included into the cheaper power price zone which covers the east and west wings of Guangdong. Most of its large industrial enterprises can enjoy a price discount of over 10% in power consumption. Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is the largest energy cooperation project between China and France, which is established and operated by Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co. Ltd. This joint venture is invested by China General Nuclear Power Group, Electricite De France (EPR) and Guangdong Energy Group Co., Ltd. The Unit 1 of Taishan Nuclear Power started to build in 2009 and was put into commercial operation on December 13, 2018. It is the first nuclear power unit of EPR for commercial usage in the world. The Unit 2 started its construction in 2010, and its fuel loading on April 12, 2019. It successfully connected to the grid of power generation on June 23 of the same year. The world’s second EPR unit (the third- generation nuclear reactor) was put into commercial operation on September 7, 2019.
