Recently, the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation held a special Olympic Day themed experience event titled "I Play Table Tennis with World Champions" at the Municipal Disabled Persons' Table Tennis Training Base, with nearly 50 mentally disabled teenagers, their families, and disabled athletes participating in the event.

The event invited Xiong Guiyan, the world champion and head coach of the Guangdong Disabled Table Tennis Team, as the event guide. Under her organization, world champions Huang Wenjuan, Pan Jiamin, and other disabled professional athletes led the teenagers who participated in the experience to experience the charm and fun of table tennis together.

The activity kicked off with the resounding sound of gongs and drums. Teachers and children from the Wuweiquan Rehabilitation Education Center in Jiangmen City performed programs such as "Weifeng Drum" and "Men Should Be Self Strengthening", and the wonderful performance won warm applause.

During the event, mentally disabled teenagers and Paralympic champions waved their rackets together and actively participated in the competition. Although these children may be slow to get started, as long as they are patiently taught, they will undergo significant changes after becoming proficient, and their mental state will also improve. Xiong Guiyan said that she hopes to provide more opportunities for these mentally disabled teenagers through sports, so that they can grow up in joy, showcase themselves, and help them achieve their life dreams.

The sports industry for disabled people is an important way to achieve the participation of disabled people in society. Carrying out mass sports for disabled people has a positive significance in expanding their sports and living space, and promoting their physical and mental health. Li Runjiao, Vice Chairman of the Municipal Disabled Persons' Federation, said that in the future, our city will also hold a series of cultural and sports activities for disabled people, such as the 9th Jiangmen Disabled Persons' Games, to further create a nationwide fitness atmosphere, Welcome the 15th National Games, the 12th National Paralympic Games, and the 9th Special Olympics to be held in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in 2025.
